Sentara Martha Jefferson Outpatient Surgery Center is seeking a Flexi/PRN Certified Surgical Technologist in Charlottesville, VA! No Weekends, no Nights, NO CALL!
Outpatient Surgery Center at Pantops offers high-quality care within a collaborative environment that includes registered nurses, surgical techs, sterile services, and support staff, all overseen by a highly trained and experienced management team. The outpatient surgery center features dedicated admit recovery and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) services. With four operating rooms, the facility provides a range of surgical services, including orthopedic procedures, as well as breast, gynecology, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics.
Operating hours are primarily Monday to Friday from 6am to 3pm, with no night or weekend shifts, though occasional variations in hours may occur.
The Surgical Technologist ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile. The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Works closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth and effective procedures.
Surgical Technologist Licensure required in the state of practice.
Education
TS – Trade School Graduate – Surgical Technologist (required)
Certification/Licensure
Licensed Surgical Technologist – Virginia (Required)
Must be certified in one of the following: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Certifications - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery TS-C - Certification - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
Experience
No experience Required
1 year of experience preferred
Strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
Strong communication skills with providers and surgical staff required.
