Job Description

The Opportunity

As an Analytics & Insights Consultant, you will operate as a strategic thought partner to Operations executives, shaping decisions that materially impact performance across New Business, Policyholder Services, Claims, and the Call Center. You will help senior leaders understand not just what is happening in the business, but why it matters, what tradeoffs it creates, and where action is needed next.  You will connect operational signals to financial results, pricing factors, and advisor experience and enable leadership to comprehend both current events and their significance.

This is a business-first analytics role for someone who excels at proactively shaping insights from complex operational data to enable timely, well‑informed decisions. Success in this role depends as much on judgment, business acumen, and communication as on technical analytical skill. You will partner with leaders to define the optimal analytical questions and develop practical, forward‑looking insights and frameworks. In parallel, you will need continuously scan the operational environment and relevant industry trends to identify emerging opportunities, risks, and unanswered questions that merit analytic focus.

The Team

The Analytics & Insights team sits within Business Intelligence and partners deeply with Operations and those who leverage Operations data across the entire enterprise. This role is expected to contribute to and reinforce strong insight practices across the team—modeling how to combine data, business context, and strategic reasoning to support high quality decision-making. As a player-coach, you will provide expertise, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of collective capabilities, while promoting analytics as an integral decision-making capability rather than solely a reporting function.

The Impact

This position involves influencing and guiding decisions across teams and leadership levels. You will regularly engage senior leaders, challenge assumptions with confidence and credibility, and translate complex system dynamics into clear choices. While this role does not include formal people leadership, it carries accountability for insight quality, clear recommendations, and tradeoffs leaders need to make.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead insight work on high-priority operational challenges by developing a deep, end‑to‑end understanding of operational systems, demand drivers, cost structures, and constraints, and by continuously refining the questions analytics should answer to support leadership priorities.
  • Translate operational insights into decision‑ready implications, synthesizing performance, risk, and tradeoffs so leaders can balance service, cost, growth, and experience when making operational and strategic choices.
  • Lead critical strategic analyses such as workforce and capacity planning, scenario modeling, and performance diagnostics, integrating uncertainty and judgment into clear options for senior leaders.
  • Apply systems thinking at scale, identifying early signals and articulating how changes in volume, mix, policy, or process design create both opportunities and risks across Operations, experience, and cost structures.
  • Influence executive decisions through clear, structured narratives that integrate data, context, and judgment, including when insights challenge entrenched perspectives or preferred outcomes.
  • Elevate team capability and partnership effectiveness by mentoring others on problem framing, insight storytelling, and executive communication, and by serving as a trusted advisor to Operations leaders and Internal Business Partners.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in analytics, consulting, or competitive intelligence roles supporting operational or strategic decisionmaking.

  • 8+ years of experience within the insurance or financial services/distribution industry, with demonstrated exposure to Operations and experience connecting operational performance to broader business outcomes.

  • Proven experience translating complex analyses into clear implications and recommendations for senior, non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments, framing problems and determining analytical approaches without predefined direction.

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more operational domains including leading insights in financial, pricing, or advisor‑related implications.
  • Experience leading cross-functional work where success depended on framing the right problem, bringing data and business judgment together, and guiding leaders toward clear decisions
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to explain how changes in one part of Operations create downstream impacts across people, process, technology, and demand.
  • Comfort working with data directly and using analytical tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, R, or similar) to explore issues, develop insight, and communicate findings.
  • Demonstrates strong executive presence and a proven ability to influence senior leaders by delivering clear recommendations, framing scenarios effectively, and communicating through concise storytelling.
  • Experience designing and evolving forecasting, staffing, or scenario‑planning frameworks that support ongoing decision‑making rather than one‑time analyses.
  • Proven record of enhancing team performance through informal leadership, mentoring peers, and promoting shared standards for analysis and storytelling.
  • Knowledge of competitive marketplace
