We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Senior Acoustics Consultant, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.
Role
As our new Senior Acoustics Consultant with a passion for working on architectural-related projects. You will play a key leadership role in delivering complex projects and growing client relationships. This role is ideal for a professional who combines strong technical expertise with project leadership, business development, and mentorship. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients while contributing to the practice's growth and visibility.
In this position, you’ll work closely with other acoustic consultants/engineers on a diverse array of private and public sector clients across North America. Whether you’re working on new and retrofit projects for noise and vibration control, conducting field measurements, or leading the development of new sound and vibration models, you’ll feel good knowing your work will positively impact people for years to come.
We work in most areas of acoustics and vibration including building design/architectural, environmental and underwater acoustics.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Project Delivery
- Lead and deliver complex acoustics and vibration projects from proposal through execution and close-out
- Take full ownership of project scope, budgets, schedules, and resourcing
- Serve as the primary client contact and technical lead on key assignments
- Provide strategic technical direction on major or high-profile projects
- Ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of project outputs
Business Development & Market Growth
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with existing and prospective clients
- Lead proposal development, including scope definition, technical approach, and fee strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships across industry, clients, and regulators
- Contribute to SLR’s market presence through presentations, conferences, and thought leadership
- Support strategic growth of the acoustics practice in priority sectors
People Leadership & Practice Development
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff
- Support team resourcing, recruitment, and capability development
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment
- Promote technical excellence and innovation across projects

Here’s what else you’ll enjoy as part of our team:
- The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000. Final agreed-upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
- 10+ years of experience in consulting with a strong focus on architectural / building acoustics.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, acoustics or related fields.
- Professional Engineering designation (Ontario or other provinces) preferred; equivalent credentials considered.
- Experience with sound and vibration modeling and computational software.
- Thought Leader with expertise on the fundamentals and approaches used to measure, predict and evaluate acoustics, noise and vibration.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage client relationships at a senior level.
- Staff training and mentoring experience is expected as part of the role.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and innovative with a track record of delivering high-quality solutions.
- Excellent and confident written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to live and work in Canada, and preferably to the US for occasional project work as required.
