The Account Manager for Government Services is a highly analytical and mission-focused transportation professional who supports and expands transportation opportunities with government-direct and defense/aerospace industry customers. This role is responsible for evaluating customer transportation data, identifying trends, and delivering actionable insights that drive load count and revenue growth.
The ideal candidate is a problem solver who will collaborate across internal teams and external stakeholders to develop data-driven recommendations, present findings, and support complex transportation operations through analysis and on-site project management. This position plays a critical role in optimizing profit and loss, strengthening customer relationships, and aligning operational capabilities with government, contractor and vendor logistics requirements. The successful candidate holds a current secret security clearance or is a US Citizen who can pass a government background check to obtain a secret security clearance. This position requires travel.
Essential Responsibilities:
Analyze customer data to include transportation spend, shipping trends, and determine how the company can increase transportation opportunities with shippers
Generate, analyze and evaluate customer-required reports.
Build presentations and reports, and present relevant customer information
Provide courses of action for pursuing and exploiting transportation opportunities
Monitor, track and evaluate department spend
Provide on-site project management for complex transportation operations
Attend professional seminars, symposiums, and conferences to analyze and exploit transportation opportunities for government vendors and contractors
Required Minimum Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of transportation and/or logistics experience
Preferred Experience and Education:
College degree with an emphasis on business, sales/marketing, or supply chain management
Two years of experience in transportation and/or logistics
Prior military service/experience
6 months of experience in government logistics and/or transportation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to pass a government background check and hold a secret security clearance
Knowledge of the government’s logistics infrastructure and how the government awards shipping opportunities
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate analyzed data and provide data interpretation
Proficient abilities in computer software (such as Microsoft Office) and programs that run and analyze data
Ability to travel up to 40% of the time
