This team plays an important role in providing reliable service, rapid response, and operational support during both daily operations and emergency/disaster response events.

Position Summary

The LEMOINE Company is seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to support the Macro Department. This position will assist with the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of diesel-powered trucks, trailers, tankers, service vehicles, and related fleet equipment used in Macro's fuel transportation, emergency response, disaster support, potable water, aviation fueling, and truck center operations.

The Diesel Mechanic plays a critical role in keeping fleet operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. The ideal candidate will have strong diesel mechanic experience, the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and a commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for the following:

  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel engines, trucks, trailers, tankers, service vehicles, and related fleet equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, brake inspections, tire checks, and general service work.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, cooling, brake, suspension, and engine-related systems.
  • Service and repair fleet equipment used in fuel hauling, transportation, emergency fuel response, potable water operations, aviation fueling, and truck center support.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify safety concerns, mechanical issues, and needed repairs before equipment is placed back into service.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist with field repairs as needed to reduce downtime and support active operations.
  • Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, schematics, and repair procedures to identify problems and complete repairs correctly.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, parts usage, and service history.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and maintenance priorities with supervisors, dispatch, fleet leadership, drivers, and operations personnel.
  • Ensure trucks, trailers, tankers, and related equipment meet company, safety, DOT, and regulatory standards.
  • Keep the shop, work area, tools, and service equipment clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with parts inventory, parts requests, and tracking of supplies as needed.
  • Follow all LEMOINE and Macro safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Support emergency response operations when required, including storm/disaster-related fleet readiness and repair support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support LEMOINE and Macro fleet, transportation, and operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Fleet Mechanic, Truck Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or similar role.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and mechanical repair.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engine, brake, suspension, fuel, cooling, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand service manuals, repair procedures, inspection forms, and maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with supervisors, dispatch, drivers, and operations personnel.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on fuel trucks, tankers, trailers, service trucks, bobtails, tractor-trailers, or transportation fleet equipment.
  • Experience in fuel transportation, logistics, emergency response, oilfield, aviation fueling, disaster response, or similar fleet-based operations.
  • CDL preferred but not required.
  • DOT inspection knowledge preferred.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
  • ASE, diesel technology, or other mechanic-related certification preferred.
  • Experience with diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting preferred.
  • Experience with fleet maintenance tracking systems is a plus
