Position Overview

The Sr. Manager, Global Tax Planning is a senior individual contributor role responsible for driving high‑impact global tax planning initiatives from concept through implementation. Reporting to the Director, Global Tax Planning, this role plays a central part in identifying, evaluating, designing, and executing tax strategies across U.S. international and non‑U.S. jurisdictions.

This position partners closely with stakeholders across the tax function and broader finance organization to develop practical, well‑supported planning strategies and ensure disciplined execution. The role is well‑suited for a technically strong, solutions‑oriented tax professional who enjoys working through ambiguity, influencing without authority, and solving complex, cross‑border tax issues in a dynamic, growing global organization.

The role offers significant visibility to senior finance leadership, meaningful ownership of strategic initiatives, and long‑term growth opportunities as the global tax planning function continues to evolve.

Key Responsibilities

Global Tax Planning (End‑to‑End)

  • Lead the full lifecycle of global tax planning initiatives, including ideation, feasibility assessment, quantitative modeling, transaction design, implementation, documentation, and audit support.
  • Planning will span U.S. international and non‑U.S. tax regimes, including emerging global frameworks (e.g., OECD Pillar Two), and will require close coordination across the global tax organization and with external advisors.
  • Apply strong working knowledge of core U.S. international tax concepts, with meaningful experience in several areas such as E&P, PTEP, GILTI, FTCs, FDII, BEAT, Sections 163(j), 986(c), 987/988, and inside/outside basis considerations.

Role Scope & Ways of Working

  • This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
  • Lead complex projects through influence by aligning stakeholders, synthesizing technical input from subject matter experts (e.g., tax accounting, transfer pricing, state and indirect tax), and driving execution under time‑sensitive deadlines.

Implementation Enablement & Cross‑Functional Handoffs

  • Provide practical guidance to tax and non‑tax stakeholders to ensure approved planning strategies are implemented correctly and embedded into ongoing processes.
  • Coordinate planning impacts across U.S. tax provision, U.S. and non‑U.S. compliance, cash tax forecasting, treasury, and FP&A.
  • Support planning‑related documentation, audit readiness, and post‑implementation follow‑through as needed.

Trusted Business Partner

  • Serve as a trusted business partner to stakeholders across corporate and operating company finance, accounting, treasury, and tax teams.
  • Develop a strong understanding of operating company business models, industry dynamics, and strategic priorities to ensure tax planning recommendations are aligned with commercial realities.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CPA or J.D. / LL.M. (Tax) strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax and/or public accounting, including meaningful experience in U.S. international tax planning, cross‑border transactions, and multinational structures

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. international tax with the ability to apply complex rules to practical business situations.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and quantify cash tax and effective tax rate impacts of planning initiatives, including tax rate arbitrage and cross‑border considerations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of clear, concise tax memoranda and presentation materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex tax concepts into plain‑English, actionable business advice.
  • Experience leading transaction design and implementation efforts requiring coordination across multiple stakeholders and tight timelines.
  • Experience partnering with external advisors on complex tax planning initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with quantitative tax analyses.
  • Interest in technology‑enabled tools (e.g., Visio, Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment, navigate ambiguity, and drive results in a matrixed organization.
  • Curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, including emerging tax regimes, new technologies, and evolving business models.
