Job Description
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Technical Power System Analysis
- Modeling & Simulation: Conduct steady-state (load flow, short-circuit) and dynamic stability analyses (transient, frequency, and voltage stability) using software like PSS/E, Digsilent PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
- Grid Connection Studies: Lead impact assessments for connecting large-scale solar, wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to the national grids of countries like Vietnam, Thailand, or Indonesia.
- Grid Code Compliance: Evaluate projects against specific national grid codes to ensure system reliability.
2. Strategic Advisory & Regional Planning
- Grid Modernization: Advise on "Smart Grid" technologies, including Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), HVDC technology, and Digital Twins for asset management.
- Energy Transition Roadmaps: Assist governments in developing Power Development Plans (PDP) that balance aggressive renewable targets with grid stability.
- ASEAN Interconnection: Support the development of cross-border power trade and multilateral interconnectors (e.g., the Laos-Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore Power Integration Project).
3. Business Development & Client Management
- Proposal Leadership: Lead the technical portion of tenders for national utility (e.g., PLN, EVN, TNB, EGAT) and/or International Financing Institution (Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank, KFW, etc.) projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, including regulators and investment committees.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, power systems, or related field (Master's preferred)
- At least 8 to 12 years of experience in power grid operations, engineering or utility consulting
- Well-versed in PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP or MATLAB/ Simulink.
- Familiarity with ASEAN grid codes and the regulatory landscape of at least 2 or 3 SEA countries.
- Proficiency in written and spoken of English (business proficient). Fluency in Bahasa, Vietnamese or Thai is a significant advantage.
- Soft skills:
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Strong presentation and communication abilities
- Problem-solving and analytical capabilities - Location and Travel:
- Office Base: Jakarta/Kuala Lumpur/Bangkok (primary location to be determined)
- Travel Requirements: 40-60% regional travel across Southeast Asian countries
- On-Site Engagement: Frequent client site visits and project-based deployments
- Flexibility: Ability to work across multiple time zones
