Job Summary:

The Senior Director-Transplant Services provides executive leadership and oversight for the solid organ transplant program. Develops and executes strategic and tactical plans to meet the access, quality, and financial objectives across transplant continuum of care. Proactively manages relationships with staff, physicians, and management Directs cost and billing methods which are aligned with federal, state, and local regulations and within budget parameters. Facilitates the building of customer relations and community relations and produces development strategies for the solid organ transplant department.

Education & Experience

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of management experience, including two (2) years of transplant-related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

In-depth knowledge of transplant program management, including compliance with UNOS, CMS, and Joint Commission standards. Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams with a focus on quality, safety, and patient experience. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, contracting, and payer relations. Demonstrated success in program growth, marketing, and strategic planning. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to build and sustain professional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates solid organ transplant program with regards to development, profitability, and growth. Collaborates in tactical and strategic program planning to improve market share.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships internally and externally with physicians, staff, adult health system CEO and COO, local and national organizations, agencies, professional associations, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitors federal and state legislative initiatives, evaluates existing policies, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Ensures all OTPN/UNOS, CMS, Joint Commission, and all regulatory standards are met.
  • Evaluates financial data, both prospectively and retrospectively, to ensure that transplant services are delivered in a cost-efficient, competitive, and quality manner. Monitors and approves budget expenditures.
  • Develops, implements, and manages continuous quality improvement initiatives, including Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, to improve transplant operations, increase customer satisfaction, and optimize patient care and outcomes in support of service line and institutional goals.
  • Maintains an organizational structure and staffing to accomplish program goals and objectives. Promotes effective two-way communication between management and employees. Coordinates responsibility for recruitment and retention of the transplant program staff with physician and operational leaders.
  • Represents that transplant (solid organ) program in appropriate local and national organizations. Manages outreach activities and educational training programs. Responds to public inquiries for information.
  • In collaboration with the public affairs, develops, implements, and manages all aspects of marketing and development activities. Collaborates on initiatives for transplant (solid organ) growth.
