PURPOSE AND ROLE:
The Maintenance Lead position supports the Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day operation of the site with solving issues to maintain the facility in a manner that supports continuous operation of production lines, equipment, tanks, and other support systems. The Maintenance Lead is skilled in traditional maintenance areas such as instrumentation, equipment changeovers, electrical controls, automation, etc.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes responsibilities of Maintenance Manager when necessary
Plan and execute maintenance tasks to achieve high equipment uptime and efficiency
Establish the performance standards for maintenance utilizing KPI's, develop the method of measurement and provide timely and routine feedback to those responsible for the performance.
Quickly respond to any and all equipment downtime, troubleshoot the issue and take necessary action to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation
Continually monitor plant processes for potential failures and notify Maintenance Manager of any issues
Build competency and capability to train other maintenance personnel in any required areas to ensure entire maintenance team is growing in skills and abilities
Assist in the maintaining of Maintenance inventory
Follow all safety rules and participate in all scheduled training
All other tasks as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent GED required
Minimum of five years’ experience in a plant environment
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job including walking and standing for long periods of time and physical lifting of up to 50 lbs
Must be able to work overtime, days, nights, additional shifts, holidays, and/or weekends as needed or determined by the Maintenance Manager
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Two-year associate’s or technical degree in maintenance preferred
Working knowledge of functions and design/operation of plant instruments and electrical equipment, process and products; methods development and procedures; industrial and personnel administration; repair maintenance of instruments and electrical equipment
Journeyman electrician or equivalent with 4 to 5 years experience preferred
Ability to read P&ID’s and other electrical and instrument related drawings
Ability to troubleshoot electrical tracing systems and calibrate/install various instrumentation components
Ability to work with automation and electrical controls (ranging from low voltage DC to 480V, 3 Phase systems) and VFD drives
Experience working with PLC based Control Systems and their Hardware
Experience with and ability to read PLC Programs, using Allen Bradley Software (RSlogix 500 and Rslogix 5000)
Experience with Soldering, MIG, and ARC welding and working with or understanding of Pneumatics
Understanding of SAP, and JDE Oracle experience a plus
Good understanding of computers and various software systems
Good organizational skills and ability to work well with others
Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritize tasks with minimal direction or oversight
Knowledge of root cause analysis and very strong troubleshooting capability
Proven safety experience/training and leadership regarding manufacturing operations including but not limited to: confined space, lock out tag out, hot work, safe work permits, personal protective equipment, and other critical safety procedures
