Job Description
Position Title: Bilingual Teacher, Full Time
Brief Job Description: Harrison School District 36 is seeking a full time Bilingual (Spanish) Teacher.
Educational Qualifications:
- Professional Educator License (PEL) in Elementary Education Grades 1-6 or ELS-TBE;
- Bilingual Spanish Endorsement (BSPA);
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education;
- Fluent and literate in English and Spanish
Additional Qualifications:
- Be responsible for planning, teaching, and assessing all curricular areas as outlined by the Board of Education;
- Be able to deliver instruction in Spanish or English in a K-8 setting;
- Have a thorough understanding of second language acquisition;
- Use best practice for first and second language learners;
- Be able to adapt the curriculum and language level for individual students' needs;
- Further the goal of cultural awareness through extra-curricular family activities;
- Identify student needs and work cooperatively with other professional staff to solve learning behavioral, and/or health problems;
- Maintain organized records and prepare reports of student progress in both languages;
- Maintain high standards of classroom behavior, cultural, and linguistic sensitivity;
- Administer the ACCESS for ELLS, IAR and other mandated state and local assessments depending on the grade level;
- Effectively communicate with parents in both English and Spanish through conferences and other methods;
- Be able to translate between languages both orally and in written form;
- Collaborate with grade level teams and work with EL teacher to develop curriculum and further the goals of the program;
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Superintendent.
Date Position(s) Available: 2026-2027 School Year
Terms of Employment: 180 days per the Harrison Teacher Association Agreement
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience and placement will be based on Harrison Teacher Association Salary Schedule
In order to accommodate District related activities such as staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher meetings, and emergencies, the District may require teachers to work a longer day.
