To be considered successful in this role, you’ll be expected to safely unload trucks of hot asphalt and load trucks of emulsified asphalt products. You’ll also help ensure the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt terminal which includes the production of quality asphalt products.
Please note this a permanent, full-time, seasonal position (approximately Mid April– Mid October).
Here is a preview of what you’ll be doing:
Become proficient in all aspects of terminal operation
Handle multiple responsibilities including customer service, monitoring efficiencies, utilizing truck scale, writing safe work permits, and assisting in asphalt orders
Load trucks of emulsified asphalt products
Unload trucks of hot asphalt or other bulk products
Unload railcars of bulk products
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot systems within the terminal
General maintenance, cleaning, housekeeping, and snow removal
This is what we need from you:
Mechanically inclined
A strong commitment to always maintaining safe work practices
Ability to handle challenges and problem-solve
Willingness to develop your knowledge in emulsion production and quality control, and a technical understanding of different products
Additional skills we’ll strongly consider to be an asset:
Previous transload or experience with an asphalt terminal
Knowledge of Safe Work Permits and LOTO
Experience in a plant setting, petrochemical area, or other industrial environment
Railroad experience
4th or 5th class Power Engineering is not required but would be an asset
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:
Ability to:
Work at heights
Swing a 10-lb sledgehammer
Walk extensively, sometimes on uneven terrain
Lift a minimum 50 lbs.
Work and stand on uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time
Work outside for extended periods of time, in all weather conditions
Wear a SCBA respirator when required (note that this is a clean-shaven work site)
Candidates are required to clear a criminal background check, drug screen, and preemployment medical examination. Candidates must also attend and pass all job-required tests (WHMIS, TDG, H2S, Fall Arrest, First Aid, and all other site-specific training, as required).
