TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT
LOCATION: John McIntire 220 N. Fifth Street Zanesville, OH 43701
SALARY: $18.31 - $19.91 (40 hours a week, Varied Schedule)

The Muskingum County Library System is seeking a Technology Assistant to provide exceptional service to the public and staff through first-line technical support, routine maintenance, hardware setup, and instruction in the effective use of technology.
Responsibilities:
- Provide remote and onsite technical support for all library locations, handling initial contact with users through face-to-face interactions, phone, chat, email, and our ticketing system.
- Provides evening and weekend coverage for emergent IT issues as scheduled. Sets up and supports technology for meeting rooms and library programs.
- Helps to maintain the organization of IT equipment with labeling, storing, and tracking of assets within software tools.
- Assists customers and staff throughout the library system with basic technology needs.
- Creates how-to guides and training material.
- Performs basic hardware maintenance and replacement.
- Sets up new computers and installs peripherals such as printers, receipt printers,
- Maintains checklists and documentation for common technology tasks.
- Runs routine administrative tasks such as resetting user accounts, merging duplicate patron accounts, and generating monthly computer usage reports.
- Installs and upgrades approved software, including Adobe products, Microsoft Office, using tools such as Ninite and DeepFreeze.
- Opens and tracks vendor support tickets as needed.
- Log new incident tickets and escalate as appropriate to Senior Technology Assistant, ILS Coordinator, or the IT Director.
- Troubleshoot problems with software such as the full Google product suite, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Adobe products, ILS software, mobile apps, and more.
- Troubleshoot problems with hardware such as printers, copiers, credit card machines, receipt printers, VOIP phones, and more.
- Actively participates in cybersecurity initiatives to protect the library’s network integrity while ensuring that all technical support activities are conducted in a manner that preserves patron privacy and complies with data handling policies.
- Highschool Diploma with IT certifications or 1 to 2 years of IT related Customer Service experience.
- Must have a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of: Windows, various software packages, general networking applications, and a desire to learn new computer software applications.
- Ability to: work independently with little supervision, interact with the public in a consistent, friendly and professional manner, to learn new technology systems, stoop, bend and lift.
- Skill in: operating and supporting computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications and customer service.
