Job Title: Staff Platform Engineer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Experience: 10+ years (Product / SaaS engineering required)
Role Summary
The Staff DevOps Engineer is a senior hands‑on engineer responsible for designing, building, and operating modern DevOps and platform capabilities for product engineering teams.This role focuses on execution excellence, enabling teams through strong CI/CD, cloud, automation, reliability engineering, and AI‑assisted DevOps practices, while influencing standards and best practices within and across squads.
Key Responsibilities
DevOps & Engineering Practices
- Implement and continuously improve DevOps standards, CI/CD practices, and SDLC controls
- Promote automation‑first, quality‑driven engineering
- Act as a senior technical contributor and advisor within squads
CI/CD & Platform Engineering
- Build and maintain secure, scalable, YAML‑first CI/CD pipelines
- Implement trunk‑based development, Infrastructure as Code, and progressive delivery patterns
- Contribute to shared pipeline frameworks, templates, and platform tooling
Release & Reliability Engineering
- Support release planning, deployment execution, and rollback readiness
- Ensure services are observable, resilient, and operable
- Participate in post‑release reviews and reliability improvements
AI‑Enabled DevOps (Applied AIOps)
- Use and extend AI‑assisted DevOps tooling to improve developer productivity and operational insight
- Apply AI techniques for: Pipeline failure analysis and remediation suggestions, AI‑assisted code, pipeline, and infrastructure reviews, Log, metric, and trace‑based root cause analysis
- Contribute to building and integrating custom agents or automation for DevOps workflows
Cloud & DevSecOps
- Build and operate cloud infrastructure on Azure (primary) and AWS
- Implement DevSecOps practices and policy‑as‑code within CI/CD pipelines
- Apply solid understanding of networking, security, and enterprise environments
Mentorship & Collaboration
- Mentor junior DevOps and software engineers
- Share best practices through documentation, pairing, and reviews
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Architects, and Platform teams
Technologies & Frameworks
- CI/CD: Azure DevOps (YAML & Classic), GitHub Actions, Jenkins
- Cloud & IaC: Azure, AWS, Terraform, ARM/Bicep, Puppet
- Containers & Platform: Docker, Microservices, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS – desirable)
- Automation: PowerShell (strong), Bash
- AI / AIOps: AI‑assisted DevOps tools, intelligent observability
- Security & Data: DevSecOps practices, networking, MS SQL, Windows/.NET
Experience & Expectations
- 10+ years in product / SaaS engineering environments
- Strong hands‑on experience delivering DevOps and CI/CD solutions
- Proven ability to improve deployment reliability, automation, and speed
