Position: PRN Float CT Technologist
Schedule: Shifts will vary in Birmingham centers Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday's.
American Health Imaging is looking for a registered PRN CT Technologist in Birmingham, AL. This is a PRN role, with varying shifts Monday-Friday, and occasional Saturday's.
Job Summary: As a registered CT Technologist, you will perform high quality scans while providing excellent customer care and service to patients.
Responsibilities:
Perform CT examinations as ordered and accurately critique images to ensure diagnostic quality.
Choose appropriate protocol and technical factors according to age, size and symptoms of patient
Provide thorough explanation of procedure to the patient, anticipating and responding to patients’ needs and questions
Position patients appropriately for ordered exam and assist patients on/off examination table as needed.
Monitor patients during exam
Verify patient information and obtain comprehensive medical history including any related prior studies
Obtain consent for administration of IV contrast and follow established practices to provide treatment, documentation and follow-up in the case of any adverse effects of IV contrast administration
Perform venipuncture for administration of IV contrast
Prepare and administer contrast media according to established practices
Utilize scanner within manufacture guidelines and take appropriate action for service as needed
Utilize PACS and RIS for image processing and accurate documentation
Maintain clear and safe environment, which includes preparing room for each patient
Perform daily and monthly QA procedures on scanner
Follow ALARA principles, Image Gently and Image Wisely to insure safe radiation practices.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
Initiate basic life support actions when necessary
Use infection control practices
Maintain punctuality and regular attendance
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Graduate of approved program for Radiological Technology
ARRT and CT Registry required
Current BLS/CPR training
CT scanner operation and training
CT anatomy and knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of operation system of CT scanner, RIS and PACS
Basic proficiency with computer monitors, keyboard and mouse for scanning, RIS and PACS use
Organized, detail oriented, observant
Calm and effective communicator
Helpful, patient and sympathetic
Physical Demands of the Position
Lifting, moving, positioning and assisting of patients on/off examination table
Walking 25% of shift, standing 50% of shift, sitting 25% of shift
