Description

We are seeking a confident, approachable, and proactive Community and Student Support Officer to join our Pastoral Support team on a part-time basis working 27.5 hours per week. This role is term-time only, 36 weeks per annum. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to learners' experiences by helping to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment both on campus and within the local community. Working closely with learners, staff, transport providers, community partners, and support services, you will play a key role in promoting learner wellbeing, engagement, and success. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible presence around college sites, local transport hubs, and the surrounding community to promote learner safety and wellbeing 
  • Support learners to attend lessons, engage with their studies, and overcome barriers to learning 
  • Work closely with curriculum, learning support, security, and pastoral teams to ensure learners receive appropriate support 
  • Attend meetings and contribute to support plans and learner interventions 
  • Record interactions, concerns, and outcomes accurately and professionally 
  • Support recruitment, enrolment, open days, and other college events 
  • Assist with examination invigilation and examination procedures when required 


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent 
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent 
  • Experience supporting learners, particularly those who may be disengaged from education 
  • Understanding of the diverse needs of learners in a further education environment 
  • Qualification related to supporting education in a post-16 setting 
  • Experience of working with community organisations and external partners 
  • Experience of behaviour support, conflict resolution, or pastoral support 
  • Previous experience within a further education or educational environment
