Job Summary:
The Bistro Supervisor oversees daily kitchen operations within the Courtyard by Marriott Bistro, ensuring high-quality food preparation, efficient workflow, and adherence to brand standards. This position plays a hands-on role in cooking, training, and guiding the culinary team while maintaining a safe and clean working environment. The Bistro Cook Supervisor is expected to lead by example, providing excellent service and supporting a culture of hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and participate in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all food items according to Marriott brand recipes and standards.
- Lead and train Bistro cooks and food prep staff, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to safety and sanitation policies.
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper storage and rotation of products.
- Oversee kitchen cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage daily prep lists and delegate responsibilities to team members.
- Ensure timely food service during breakfast, dinner, and bar service hours.
- Assist with scheduling, labor control, and maintaining food cost goals.
- Handle guest inquiries or concerns in a professional, service-focused manner.
- Support the Food & Beverage Manager in developing new menu items or seasonal offerings.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment that reflects Marriott service standards.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a hotel, restaurant, or food service environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and coach team members to achieve high performance.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs. for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in high-paced kitchen environments.
