We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer - UPRITE to join the JETSII Contract with Nexus, a teammate company.
The Project Engineer for the UPRITE project will:
- Generate assembly and test procedures.
- Assemble and test hardware.
- Troubleshoot hardware and rework/reassemble as necessary.
- Design, assemble, and evaluate test fixtures as necessary.
- Coordinate with test facilities and generate documentation for external tests (i.e. EMI, Acoustic, AC Inverter, Vibration, Thermal Cycle).
- Assist Project Manager/Systems Engineer to coordinate with matrix organizations for analyses and verifications.
- Generate verification documentation and review design memos, test reports, etc.
- Work with NASA Engineering to manage the assessment of certification products.
- Coordinate flight logistics as flight articles are prepared for launch.
- Generate essential paperwork and documents for tasks assigned, such as Task Performance Sheets (TPS), Discrepancy Reports (DR), and Detailed Test Procedures (DTP), as needed.
- Maintain and ensure baseline test configuration and document any configuration changes.
- Facilitate across various stakeholders to achieve integration of program objectives.
- Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.
- Perform other duties as required to support the UPRITE project
Requisition Qualifications:

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and at least 5 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and associated documentation.
- Previous experience with NASA flight hardware testing and certification. This project is Class 1E and has some tailoring to the standard processes.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
Requisition Preferences:
- Working knowledge of NASA and JSC standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.
- Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including Verification and Validation documents.
- Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of hardware.
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
- Python familiarity for testing of software/firmware.
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering products.
