People & Culture Coordinator

The People & Culture Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the People & Culture Corporate team and ensuring a consistent and effective application of Human Resources legislation, policies, procedures and practices. This role plays a key part in delivering strong employee experience across the organization, ensuring seamless People & Culture operations and supporting leaders and employees through key moments in the employee lifecycle.

This position will be based out of Bird's Calgary office.

What You Will Be Working On

People & Culture Support

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships, representing the People & Culture team, at all levels of the organization
  • Support a consistent, one-team unified approach demonstrated through the delivery of People & Culture programs and initiatives
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing timely and accurate guidance on policies, processes, and programs
  • Work with the team to prepare employee documentation to process offer letters, promotional agreements, and resignations
  • Manage and organize departure interviews and process offboarding
  • Assume responsibility of Workday administration including reporting, promotions, transfers, changes, updates, and vacation tracking and reconciliation
  • Coach and train new hires and employees on Workday (HRIS)
  • Exercise and demonstrate sound judgment, strict confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in meetings; deliver presentations as required

People & Culture Programs and Process Support

  • Liaise with People & Culture Center of Excellence and Payroll on new hire, promotion, departures, benefits and other team member changes
  • Coordinate and support learning and development initiatives, including scheduling training sessions and tracking employee participation
  • Support the development of various People & Culture initiatives and projects
  • Support employee orientation and onboarding (preparation of new hire packages, new hire setup (welcome email, IT setup and payroll documents), and ensure consistency across the organization
  • Support departures, leaves and off boarding process (collect and track hardware, communicate with digital services)
  • Assume responsibility for the accurate, complete, and timely preparation of records, reports, and other documents
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience
  • Support the annual service award process including communicating to service award recipients and oversee the shipment of awards along with assisting in coordination of ceremony planning (including 25 Year Club celebrations)
  • Perform other related duties as required

What We Are Looking For

  • Graduated with a post-secondary degree or diploma, in business administration, or commerce, with a concentration in Human Resources or related discipline
  • Have obtained or working towards a CPHR certification an asset
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Human Resources as a coordinator with a large organization
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • SharePoint & Workday knowledge an asset
  • Proven ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality, including tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing and handling information of a sensitive nature
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
