Public Sector People are proud to partner with Randwick City Council to recruit a strategic and innovative Head Vibrancy and Place. This exciting leadership role sits within Council’s Community & Culture directorate and plays a key role in delivering the long-term Economic Development Strategy.
This position leads a passionate multidisciplinary team responsible for placemaking, activations, business engagement and economic development initiatives that strengthen Randwick’s town centres and enhance the reputation as a vibrant destination.
You’ll work closely with businesses, community groups, government agencies and internal stakeholders to deliver initiatives that foster visitation, encourage investment and create engaging experiences for residents and visitors alike. About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development & Placemaking, you will be responsible for:
Leading the delivery of Council’s Economic Development Strategy through operational planning, budgeting and strategic implementation
Delivering placemaking initiatives, activations, business engagement programs and partnerships that support vibrant centres and a thriving night-time economy
Leading and mentoring a high-performing team focused on economic development and community engagement
Building strong relationships with businesses, industry stakeholders and government agencies to support economic growth and collaboration
Managing grant opportunities, project budgets and strategic reporting to support successful program delivery
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in placemaking, events, economic development, marketing or a related field
Strong experience delivering placemaking, activation or economic development initiatives within complex stakeholder environments
A confident and articulate leader who can bring businesses, stakeholders and the community together around a shared vision
Proven leadership capability with experience developing and motivating multidisciplinary teams
Strong strategic thinking, project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
Understanding of the 24-hour economy, tourism and place-based activation within a local government environment will be highly regarded
