Job Description
Position SummaryResponsible for the effective performance of the manufacturing operation, delivering optimum output at the lowest operating cost while ensuring total customer satisfaction. Leads production, quality, safety, and continuous improvement to drive overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), reduce waste, and develop the capability of the operations team.
Primary Functions
Accountable for plant manufacturing operations in accordance with process and product specifications and quality standards, complying with contractual and customer requirements.
Establishes and maintains a positive employee relations climate and develops and maintains safe and healthy working conditions.
Enforces safety rules and regulations designed to create and maintain safe working habits and reduce the frequency and severity of industrial accidents.
Coordinates the execution of manufacturing, maintenance, and setup activities in conjunction with the production planning function.
Drives continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methods to improve OEE, eliminate waste, standardize work, and establish labor standards through structured time study.
Accountable for proactively pursuing and implementing cost reduction strategies and activities.
Recommends designs for special equipment and assists engineering with product and process research and development programs.
Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates on rates of pay and other personnel changes.
Accountable for departmental compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO, and other strategic quality objectives.
Assists in project justification, budget development, AFE preparation, planning, and accountability.
Performs such individual assignments as management may direct. Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Five or more years of manufacturing experience.Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated successful production and quality management experience.
Understanding of the technical components of injection molding and extrusion.
Knowledgeable of the financial aspects of the business.
Proactivity in the identification and execution of manufacturing and personnel improvements.
Total Quality Management (TQM) and teamwork skills.
Preferred Experience
Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt).
Hands-on experience facilitating Kaizen and continuous improvement events.
Experience with time study and labor standards systems (for example MODAPTS or MOST).
