Job Description
Position Summary
Provide controls/electrical troubleshooting and installation/implementation services for mechanical systems, electronic controls, and facility controls for manufacturing equipment and processes.
75% Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, in maintaining production equipment, auxiliary support equipment, and process controls and building systems.
25% Work with Engineering and project personnel to improve implementation processes and installation of new equipment. Work with production personnel to understand and operate machine equipment for maximum performance.
Primary Functions:
Fault diagnosis, PLC/HMI Troubleshooting, Component Replacement / installation.
Circuit Analysis: Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to trace signals and voltage in a panel or on a machine.
Conducting Preventive Maintenance, Testing and Calibration, System backup management.
Wiring and Installation: Assemble, wire, and install new control panels, electrical devices, and sensors according to blueprints., ensuring compliance with safety standards (like OSHA and NEC).
Modifications: Implement small-scale program modifications or hardware upgrades to improve machine efficiency.
Documentation and Collaboration through detailed records of maintenance, repairs, system updates, and calibration results.
Safety Protocols: Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other site-specific safety regulations.
Support & Training: Provide technical support and training to machine operators and lower-level maintenance personnel on how to correctly operate and reset automated equipment.
Other duties, as assigned.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or four to six years’ experience with large automation systems, computer network systems & wiring, and process control theory in a manufacturing environment.
Fluent in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams
Knowledgeable in AC/DC circuits, relays and contactors
Wiring and calibration of motor starters, relays, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
PLCs: Programming, troubleshooting, and configuring I/O devices.
Prior success applying machine control equipment, process control instrumentation and associated software.
Interpretation of Logic and PLC programs
Must be competent in the application of OHSA, EPA, and other health & safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Vendor-Specific Certifications: Certifications from major PLC manufacturers (like Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation or Siemens) considered
Write and implement PLC programs using HMIs.
Physical Requirements:
Requires up to 12 hours of standing/walking daily.
Must be able to individually lift 45-49 lbs. and team lift upwards of 50-100 lbs.
Must be able to individually push/pull 49 lbs. and team push/pull upwards of 50-100 lbs.
Must be able to bend/stoop/twist, crouch/squat, reach above and below shoulders
Requires repetitive use of arm, wrist, and hand.
Must be able to work with machinery and hand tools.
Moderate exposure to heat, cold, and noise.
Ability to wear required PPE including hearing protection, safety glasses and safety toe shoes.
