Job Overview
The Fashion Stylist Specialist executes on-set styling and oversees a team of assistants in the creation of photography for Macy’s Content Studio. This role meets creative direction, ensures brand consistency, and delivers against production demands established by the marketing department. It supports an omnichannel array of assets, including editorial-style imagery, e-commerce product photography, and video content.
What You Will Do
- Drive styling direction across multiple photography teams.
- Own on-figure styling for women’s, men’s, and kids’ fashion.
- Develop and mentor team members to achieve studio objectives, team goals, and individual growth.
- Partner closely with Marketing, Photo Directors, Designers, Merchandising, and Project Management to align on direction and production schedules.
- Stay current on industry trends, techniques, and competitive content to inform styling approach.
- Coach assistant stylists to elevate taste level and expand styling capabilities.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Support managers and directors across photo direction and productivity initiatives.
- Build strong, inclusive partnerships across diverse studio teams to meet production goals.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Skills You Will Need
Styling & Creative Direction: Strong aesthetic judgment with the ability to translate creative direction into elevated, on-brand styling across editorial, e-commerce, and video content.
On-Figure Styling Expertise: Deep experience styling women’s, men’s, and kids’ fashion with a strong focus on fit, proportion, and product presentation across contemporary and classic assortments.
Team Leadership & Development: Ability to develop, mentor, and elevate assistant stylists while contributing to a high-performing, productivity-driven studio environment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to partner with Marketing, Photo Direction, Design, Merchandising, and Project Management to align on creative direction and production needs.
Trend Awareness & Market Insight: Strong understanding of industry trends, styling techniques, and competitive content to continuously inform and evolve styling approach.
Operational Execution: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Communication & Influence: Clear, concise communicator who effectively aligns stakeholders and works seamlessly across teams of varying size and seniority.
Problem Solving & Adaptability: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, solve styling challenges, and maintain production flow.
Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Capture One, and Microsoft Office tools to support studio workflows.
Inclusive Mindset: Ability to work effectively within diverse teams and deliver styling that reflects a broad, inclusive customer base.
Who You Are
- Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
- 5-plus years of experience working in a photography studio environment, with an emphasis on On-Figure styling.
- This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
