
Applications Engineer – Partial Discharge & High Voltage Diagnostics (m/f/d)
Job Description
Megger’s Center of Excellence for Partial Discharge (PD) solutions in Aachen is seeking an experienced high-voltage applications engineer to join our expert team. This role is designed for professionals with a strong background in high-voltage assets and diagnostics — ideally with hands-on experience in partial discharge measurement, analysis, and monitoring.
With over 30 years of leadership in PD technology, Megger Aachen offers the industry’s most comprehensive range of portable, on-line, off-line, and continuous monitoring PD solutions for utilities, OEMs, and service providers worldwide.
Your tasks:
- Develop and implement technical solutions based on our PD product portfolio in collaboration with our international sales and distribution network
- Provide high-level technical and application support for PD measurement and monitoring solutions to customers and sales channels worldwide
- Deliver on-site and remote trainings, product demonstrations, and system commissioning for customers in the high-voltage sector
- Represent Megger at international exhibitions, seminars, and technical conferences.
- Lead solution delivery from initial specification through to successful project completion, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Provide technical feedback to Product Management and R&D to optimize the PD portfolio and influence future developments
Your Profile:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in high-voltage engineering, asset diagnostics, or testing (transformers, GIS, switchgear, cables, etc.)
- A university degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. electrical engineering, power engineering)
- Practical knowledge of partial discharge testing and analysis (IEC 60270 or similar standards) highly preferred
- Ability to work independently with a structured, goal-oriented approach
- High availability and willingness for international business travel
- Strong communication skills in English (B2 level or above as it is the firm’s business language)
- One additional European language (German, Spanish, Italian, French, Slavik languages etc.) required
- Cross-cultural communication skills
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) preferred
