About the Role
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, the Short-Term Planning Engineer provides technical support to mine operations across the short-term planning horizon, enabling safe, reliable and cost-efficient outcomes.
This is a site-based, residential role located in the Gunnedah region of NSW. Relocation support or residential assistance is available for the successful candidate.
What You’ll Do
Lead the development and delivery of short-term mine plans (monthly, weekly and daily), ensuring alignment with production targets
Proactively manage short-term forecasts, identifying and mitigating safety, operational and business risks
Coordinate closely with operations, maintenance and technical services to optimise fleet performance and execution
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within mine planning to enhance efficiency and reliability
Mentor and support mining engineers, fostering high-quality outputs aligned to site objectives and safety standards
What You'll Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar
Significant experience in open cut coal mine engineering, multi-seam coal experience is advantageous
Experience using mine planning & scheduling software (Vulcan, Gantt Scheduler, Spry)
Excellent communication and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Well-developed verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
