Transportation Coordinator

PURPOSE: This position is responsible for coordinating the transportation of all inbound and outbound shipments and reports directly to the Transportation Supervisor.   KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Determines the most economical method for shipping and receiving orders by taking into consideration freight rates, customer requests/preferences, i.e. TS truck, and back haul opportunities, etc. Generate and publish a delivery and shipment schedule Reconcile freight issues such as demurrage, fuel surcharges and billing discrepancies Track and record service provider statistics, i.e. on schedule, ability to accommodate customers, etc. Initiate Preventive Actions as needed Other duties as assigned REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES: Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school 2+ years in a transportation coordinator role or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience Ability to solve practical problems and deal with changing concrete variables with limited supervision PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES: Previous SAP and/or JDE experience; other ERP software experience a plus COMPETENCIES: Demonstration of Calumet Values – Safety, Environment & Social Responsibility, Teamwork, Ownership, Passion for Customers, and Excellence Excellent communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines Excellent communications skills used in building customer relationships Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively in a team environment
