Job Outline — Senior Lead Designer (LBLR) Teams covered: 1Stop/LLP, NRP LP, Components Role type: Senior Individual Contributor (IC), potential to include line management responsibility depending on qualifications Reports to: Design Director – RQI-P (Joachim Halse) Location: LBLR Seniority: HG18 Position Overview The Senior Lead Designer is the highest-impact individual contributor designer in LBLR, accountable for premium design quality across all major LBLR product teams (1Stop/LLP, NRP LP, Components). This role combines deep hands-on product craft, end-to-end ownership, and strategy execution, setting and upholding design standards while partnering tightly with Product and Engineering leaders to shape product direction. The Senior Lead Designer is a strong strategic and highly autonomous contributor, internally recognized for excellence, with both broad and deep capability and the ability to see the bigger picture and zoom in on specifics. Key Responsibilities A. Design Quality Craft Leadership • Own and uphold premium bar for design quality across LBLR product teams, ensuring experiences meet high standards of clarity, usability, and consistency. • Drive end-to-end design on strategic initiatives—problem framing, conceptual exploration, flows, interaction design, visual/UI craft, prototyping, iteration. • Provide deep craft review, guidance, and hands-on improvement to ensure consistency across products and platforms. B. Product Strategy Contribution • Partner closely with Product and Engineering leaders, and domain SMEs to shape short- and long-horizon design direction across 1Stop/LLP, NRP LP, and Components. • Translate ambiguous or complex problem spaces into actionable design deliverables. • Advocate for user needs and evidence-based design decisions; bring clarity when direction is ambiguous. • Ensure design aligns with broader Alliance Product Management and Development (PMD) strategy. C. Cross-Team Influence and Design Consistency • Operate as a core member of the most senior cross-functional leadership team in LBLR • Build deep collaborative relationships with the product teams to ensure design is integrated early and continuously through the development lifecycle. • Influence product teams to raise quality through constructive challenge, coaching, and clarity. • Support alignment across multiple product tracks, identifying opportunities for shared patterns, reusable components, and unified design direction, ensuring compliance with the design system Life. • Ensure reuse and coherence across experiences. D. Mentoring Design Culture • Mentor designers in LBLR; provide craft and strategic guidance. • Help cultivate a culture of learning, collaboration, and high standards. • Contribute to design community rituals, critiques, and capability development. • Support the Design Manager when needed, but without line responsibility. Skill Profile • Exceptionally strong craft, with both broad and deep capability across interaction, visual, product, and systems design. • Ability to operate autonomously on high-stakes and ambiguous initiatives. • Strong communicator—able to articulate rationale, shape conversations, and influence decisions with clarity. • Ability to move fluidly between strategy and detail, “see the bigger picture and zoom in on specifics.” • Adept at working in cross-functional setups, particularly with product and engineering at high velocity.
