Active Start Camp Counsellor (Seasonal)

The Granite Club is looking for a seasonal Summer Active Start Counsellor who will provide a safe, stimulating environment for the children in the Active Start programs or camp. Primary Responsibilities Safe check in and out for kids. Express drop off between 8:50am – 9:05am. Attend and play an active role in regular staff meetings. Assist children to get ready for activities, ensuring they are on time for activities. Provide a safe and fun environment for the campers. Ensure rules are adhered to. Clean areas at the end of the activity. Ensure children eat their lunch and snack. Model positive eating habits and encourage recycling Creatively develop ideas for games. Dressing up on dress up days. Ensure questions and concerns from parents are noted to the supervisor. Participate in non-instructional activities with children such as water play, bowling etc. Be a positive role model for children to follow. Administrative tasks such as keeping accurate attendance lists and turning them into the LTAD Active Start Coordinator at the end of each week. Communicate with parents about their child’s day – establish a positive relationship with parents Ensure the First Aid kit is always up to date and with group. Be aware of all the information on medical forms such as alternate pick-up people and allergies. Always keep this information with you. Ensure “special requests” are met. (Drop off, allergies, etc.). Provide feedback to your team as necessary. Delegate specific tasks to counsellors in their group. Be on time for shift and ensure your team is ready 15 minutes before start of camp or program. Responsible for taking attendance and reporting absences daily. Know and enforce the Club House Rules. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications   Minimum Grade 12 A responsible, patient person who must have a genuine love for children. Experience working with pre-school-aged children would be considered an asset. Previous experience as a camp counsellor and supervisor as an asset. Compensation   The hourly rate for this position is $17.60
