Make a difference by applying your expertise as a modern regulator and a strategic thinker to shape licensing and compliance of NSW public water utilities for the benefit of the people of NSW Leadership role in a small, dynamic, and collaborative team within an independent agency Central Sydney location, with flexible working options About the role The Regulation and Compliance Division at IPART is looking for a manager to oversee a small team of dedicated technical and regulator specialists. This leadership role involves leading the compliance framework for public water utilities in NSW. You will lead periodic reviews of operating licences demonstrating your strategic thinking, problem solving and strong project management skills. You will identify trends and opportunities for regulatory and compliance improvements and work with IPART’s economic regulators to improve integration between economic and compliance regulation for water utilities in NSW. Reporting to the Director, Regulation and Compliance, the Manager, Public Water Utilities will also serve as a key advisor to both the Director and the Executive Director. The role will require you to lead negotiations and discussions with other regulatory agencies including DCCEEW and NSW Health and with counterparts at the public water utility businesses. About you We are seeking a candidate with significant experience in managing teams or workstreams in a regulatory setting. Expertise and/or knowledge of providing water and sewage services is essential. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand and distil complex, technical issues into key insights and present clear, concise briefs with strategic recommendations. Strong project management skills are crucial to effectively handle multiple priorities and unexpected challenges. A genuine interest in staying informed about industry developments, as well as relevant government policies and legislation, will be highly beneficial in this role. The salary range for this role is $168,273 to $181,215 per annum, plus superannuation and annual leave loading. An increase to this salary is scheduled from 1 July 2026, in line with C2024-07 Crown Employees (Public Sector- Salaries 2024) Award . You can read the role description here .
