QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you ready for new challenges in an international and innovation-driven environment where you can make a difference? Apply and join our team, be curious, learn, grow, and develop your career together with us. We promise: you are in for a special ride!

The location of the role: Eskişehir/Türkiye.

Your Position

As an EHS Specialist at our Eskişehir plant, you will be responsible for all Environment, Health & Safety activities at the site, reporting to the EHS Manager and working across departments to ensure a safe, compliant, and health-conscious workplace. In this role, you will lead EHS initiatives collaboratively with diverse teams (from mining to manufacturing) to implement strategies that maintain the highest standards of safety and environmental excellence. This role is combining hands-on operational safety management in the field with systematic EHS program administration (documentation, audits, and compliance) to meet both local regulatory requirements and RHI Magnesita’s global standards.

Your Tasks

In addition, your tasks will include;

  • Foster a Proactive Safety Culture: Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, ensuring a positive attitude towards EHS at all levels of the organization. Lead by example to embed safety-first behaviors across the site.
  • Risk Assessment & Hazard Control: Conduct regular EHS risk assessments, site inspections, and compliance audits to identify hazards, potential risks, and non-compliance issues. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and preventive measures to eliminate or control these hazards, focusing on preventing workplace incidents and accidents.
  • EHS Management Systems & Documentation: Maintain and continuously improve the site’s EHS management systems (in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 standards). Keep all health, safety, and environmental documentation up-to-date and compliant with Turkish regulations and company policies, including risk assessments, work instructions, emergency plans, and safety procedures.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities for the Eskişehir plant, including fire safety plans, drills, and first-aid readiness. Ensure robust emergency response capabilities and compliance with major accident prevention requirements for a high-hazard industrial site.
  • Training & Safety Awareness: Provide on-site EHS training and awareness programs to employees and contractors, emphasizing best practices and strengthening the safety culture. Ensure all personnel (including contractors) are informed, competent, and comply with site safety rules (e.g. permit-to-work, LOTOTO procedures).
  • Incident Management & Reporting: Oversee incident and near-miss reporting and lead investigations of accidents or unsafe incidents to identify root causes. Document lessons learned and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence, maintaining detailed records and EHS performance reports for management.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Turkish EHS legislation and industry standards applicable to the site (including mining safety and Seveso/major-hazard regulations), maintaining all required permits, licenses, and reporting in a timely manner. Liaise with regulatory authorities and prepare for EHS audits and inspections with no gaps or lapses in compliance.
  • Contractor Safety Management: Manage EHS for contractors and visitors, enforcing site safety requirements for third parties. Implement and monitor contractor onboarding, supervision, and permit-to-work processes to control high-risk activities and ensure contractors adhere to our EHS standards.

About You

You are a strong communicator with a collaborative attitude. You feel confident engaging and negotiating with customers and managers at all levels. With your great enthusiasm and creative mindset, you bring new ideas to the table, not only as an individual but also together with your colleagues. You work well in cross-functional teams and are not afraid to take responsibility and make decisions. With your hands-on mentality, structured approach and analytical skills, you proactively seek to improve the status quo. You see change as something positive, can adapt quickly and you like to courageously help shaping the future of RHI Magnesita in Türkiye.

Your profile:

  • In-depth knowledge of Turkish occupational health, safety and environmental regulations and standards. Familiarity with international EHS directives and major accident hazard (Seveso) requirements for high-tier industrial sites is a strong plus.
