OUR MISSION

The Family Place empowers survivors of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.

Position Summary:

In this position as Events Manager, you will advance The Family Place's fundraising and community engagement goals by planning and executing high-quality events and donor experiences that deepen relationships, attract new supporters, and strengthen awareness of our mission and impact. 

You'll manage a portfolio of signature fundraising and cultivation events—including Partners Card, ReuNight, Community Advisory Council meetings, corporate engagements, and other mission-driven donor touchpoints—overseeing every detail from logistics and timelines to vendor coordination, volunteer support, sponsorship fulfillment, and guest experience. Working closely with the development and marketing teams, you'll ensure every event reflects the excellence, warmth, and purpose of The Family Place brand while creating memorable experiences that inspire generosity and long-term philanthropic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Planning & Execution 

  • Provide leadership and implementation support for assigned fundraising, stewardship, and cultivation events from concept through post-event follow-up. (Signature events include Partners Card, ReuNight, Community Advisory Council events, and other engagement opportunities to be defined.)
  • Manage event timelines, project plans, production schedules, run-of-show documents, and internal coordination across teams. 
  • Oversee logistics, including venues, catering, rentals, décor, audiovisual, entertainment, signage, registration, seating, transportation, and event staffing. 
  • Ensure a seamless, high-quality guest experience that reflects The Family Place’s mission, brand, and donor engagement goals. 
  • Support on-site event management, troubleshooting, and execution before, during, and after events. 
     

Donor Stewardship & Relationship Support 

  • Partner with the rest of the Development team to ensure events are strategically used to cultivate, steward, and retain donors and sponsors. 
  • Help create thoughtful donor experiences before, during, and after events, including invitation strategy, follow-up, recognition, and hospitality. 
  • Coordinate sponsor benefits and fulfillment, ensuring commitments are delivered accurately and professionally. 
  • Support relationship-building efforts with committee members, sponsors, vendors, and community partners. 
  • Assist in developing event-related touchpoints that move guests from attendees to deeper supporters of the organization. 
     

Project Management & Collaboration 

  • Serve as a central project manager for event-related workflows, ensuring deadlines, approvals, and deliverables stay on track. 
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Marketing & Communications, Programs, Finance, and Executive leadership to align event strategy and execution. 
  • Manage event budgets, invoices, contracts, and expense tracking in partnership with department leadership. 
  • Maintain organized event records, timelines, sponsor assets, guest lists, and post-event reporting. 
  • Evaluate event outcomes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, donor engagement, and fundraising performance. 
     

Volunteer & Committee Support 

  • Support event committees, advisory groups, and volunteers by coordinating meetings, materials, assignments, and follow-up. 
  • Help equip volunteer leaders and ambassadors to effectively represent and support The Family Place. 
  • Foster strong relationships with volunteers and community stakeholders who contribute to event success.

Other Duties: 

Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for degrees in communications, nonprofit management, hospitality, marketing, public relations, or related field. 
  • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience required, including experience in: 
  • Event planning and execution 
  • Fundraising or nonprofit development 
  • Donor stewardship and/or sponsor relations
  • Interest in building a career in nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, or community engagement is strongly preferred 
     

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Texas Driver’s License and a clear driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated success managing multiple events or projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail. 
  • Experience supporting donor-facing, sponsor-driven, or community engagement events preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and warmly with donors, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and senior leaders. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working occasional evenings and weekends as required by event schedules. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor/event management systems; experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar CRM preferred.

Mental and Physical Duties:

Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing, walking, and with occasional need for driving to pick up or deliver items. Some physical effort is required, associated with lifting and carrying objects (at least 30 lbs.). Ability to tolerate ambiguity and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Working Conditions:

Work may be performed, but is not limited to an office environment. Ability to work some weekends and evening hours for special projects.

Essential Personnel Designation: Non-essential
