Part-time

BASIC FUNCTION: The Peer Recovery Advocate uses their lived experience with substance use and recovery to engage, inspire, and guide residents through the transitional housing journey. The Peer Recovery Advocate builds trusting peer relationships while also assisting clients with identifying and securing permanent housing opportunities.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Conduct proactive outreach and build trusting relationships with tenants, including those who are disengaged or at risk
  • Provide one-on-one peer support and recovery coaching using lived experience
  • Perform regular wellness check-ins and monitor tenant well-being
  • Support housing stability by reinforcing lease expectations and identifying early risk factors (e.g., arrears, isolation, non-compliance)
  • Assist tenants in accessing and navigating medical, mental health, substance use, and social services (e.g., HRA, SNAP, SSI)
  • Accompany tenants to appointments when appropriate and support follow-through
  • Facilitate peer-led groups focused on recovery, life skills, and wellness
  • Collaborate with case managers and interdisciplinary team members, including participation in case conferences
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with program and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques and connect tenants to appropriate clinical or emergency supports
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided in accordance with agency and funder requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

SCHEDULE: 17.5 hours per week (requires flexible schedule)

RATE: $37,000 - $45,500 / year dep. on experience

LOCATION: Bronx, NY 10456

QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

· Experience with the drug treatment environment and the particular risks related to long-term opiate use or stimulant use disorder.

· Demonstrated skills in engagement.

· Available to work a flexible schedule as required.
