Job Description

Sign on Bonus: Up to $10,000 SOB Based on Eligibility

Position Summary  
Provides Occupational Therapy services to patients and clients including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication. The Occupational Therapist II has mastered basic technical and organizational occupational therapy skills. Has skills in evaluating patient responses and uses past experiences and evidence-based practices in providing care and decision- making. There is a focus on outcomes, and care is delivered using a systematic approach. The Occupational Therapist II is able to make independent decisions guided by experience, as well as policies and standards. Consults with other members of the healthcare team when necessary. Maintains acceptable standards of patient care within the clinical area.  

  • Perform a skilled evaluation through impairment testing with interpretation of the findings that relate to functional deficits. Problem identification is the therapist’s clinical judgment about the client’s response to actual or potential health conditions or needs.  
  • Develop treatment plans relevant to clinical findings that provide individualized treatment for patient level-of-care and length-of-stay and that relate to established goals. Provide input to department Supervisor/Manager/Director in reviewing / assessing ongoing treatment plans and progress.  
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, and goals that relate to clinical findings.  
  • Reassess patient’s functional need, and adjust care plan as indicated, including documentation of status change  
  • Provide assessments and treatment such as relates to: Upper Extremity Management: Sensation, Strength/Tone, Range of Motion, Coordination, Edema Control, Desensitization, Psychological Components, Activities of Daily Living, Cognition, Visual Perception, Vocational/Avocational, Patient/Family Education, Functional Mobility, and Body Systems (i.e. musculoskeletal, nervous, integumentary, and cardiovascular  
  • Provide therapy modalities such as: Iontophoresis, ultrasound, fluidotherapy, contrast bath, paraffin, ice massage, hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation, and compression.  
  • Demonstrate and instruct patient/caregiver on body mechanics.  
  • Maintain skills required to use and care for equipment such as pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff /pulse, exercise equipment, and adaptive equipment and Wheelchairs.  
  • Identify contraindications for patient. Follow precautions for WB, Cardiac, Contact, spinal precautions, and precautions with total joint replacements  
  • Demonstrate knowledge of inpatient lab values, diagnostic tests, medications, FIM scale / PAI scoring and the impact on patient.  
  • Counsel patient and family regarding treatments and modalities and home programs.  
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in areas such as: NDT, sensory integration.  
  • Minimum Requirements 
    • Education: Graduated from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy with a Bachelor’s degree 
    • Experience: 3 years experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist working in the field of Occupational Therapy 
    • Licensure/Certifications: Valid, current license AZ State Board of OT Examiners; BLS 
  • Preferred Requirements 
    • Education: Graduated from an accredited school of Occupational Therapy with a Master’s degree
