Job Description
We’re looking for a Field Service Technician III with strong testing and troubleshooting experience who are ready to take on challenging fieldwork across the country. In this hands-on role, you’ll test, maintain, and commission low to high-voltage systems at power plants, hydroelectric dams, and other industrial sites. You’ll work with relays, transformers, breakers, SCADA systems, and more—bringing reliable energy solutions to life. - Test, maintain, and collect data on low, medium, and high voltage systems (480V–600kV), including breakers, relays, switchgear, cables, and transformers
- Run standard field tests (TTR, insulation resistance, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot)
- Test relays (electromechanical and solid-state) with minimal supervision
- Troubleshoot control circuits, relay logic, and protection schemes
- Function check control panels, trip/alarm circuits, and SCADA signal integrity
- Read and interpret schematics, drawings, manuals, and one-line diagrams
- Keep accurate reports, logs, and equipment calibration records
- Previous experience working in data centers, commercial and industrial settings
- 5 years of field experience testing, maintaining, and commissioning power systems up to 500kV
- Experience with megohmmeters, TTRs, contact resistance testers, and insulation testers
- Familiarity with PowerDB or similar test documentation software
- Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, and field safety standards
- Able to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Organized, safety-conscious, and able to manage time and priorities independently
- Flexible for overtime, weekends, holidays, and night work.
- Able to travel frequently (75% with overnight stays as needed)
- Valid driver’s license
- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- NETA Level II or higher certification
- Apparatus (electrical MV, LV equipment testing, or NETA testing experience)
- An associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
