Overview
This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing end-to-end material flow to support efficient production operations. The position leads material handling and warehousing teams, drives lean material flow systems, ensures inventory accuracy, and partners cross-functionally to support production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Lead and optimise end‑to‑end material flow from receiving and inspection through line-side presentation, WIP markets, and end‑of‑line pick, pack, and ship.
Design, implement, and manage lean pull‑based systems including PFEP, supermarkets, 2‑bin Kanban, tugger routes, and point‑of‑use delivery in a 5S environment.
Oversee inventory management, accuracy, and control, including excess and obsolete material processes.
Manage multi‑shift warehousing operations including receiving, staging, storage, cycle counts, shipping of finished goods, and indirect materials.
Align material flow and replenishment strategies to production scheduling, including heijunka, changeover optimisation, and runner/repeater/stranger models.
Supervise, coach, and develop material handling teams, including forklift drivers and material supervisors; lead hiring, training, and performance management.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow and participate in FMEA and cross‑functional problem‑solving activities.
Act as SAP Super User within the functional area and collaborate with corporate materials, suppliers, and customers to resolve operational and quality issues.
Minimum Qualifications
5 years of progressive Operations management experience in a similar work environment
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or equivalent experience
Transformational leadership using lean principles utilising Plan for Every Part
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate with multiple sites
Ability to operate in high mix / low volume and high volume / low mix production environments
Successfully manage shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong quantitative and analytical skills with data‑driven decision making
Demonstrated understanding of financial measurements and business goals
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools
Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system
Experience in international logistics
Demonstrated transformational leadership using lean principles
