Job Title: Outreach Team Member Reports To: Outreach Coordinator / Program Supervisor Job Type: Part-Time 20hrs/wk. Position terminates November 20, 2026 Location: Central Location: Valerie C. Woodard Center, 3205 Freedom Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208 Outreach Events: Various locations within Mecklenburg County. Events will take place during business hours and after business hours, including evenings and weekends. Position Summary Outreach Team Members support the organization’s mission by engaging with community members, promoting services, distributing information, and helping connect individuals to available resources. Team members serve as the face of the program in the community, working collaboratively to increase awareness and participation while building trust and relationships with diverse populations. Key Responsibilities Community Engagement Outreach Attend and support outreach events, including but not limited to community fairs/festivals, and community meetings to represent the program during the season. Distribute flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials in targeted neighborhoods and venues. Engage individuals in conversation to explain the available HOMES program services, and gather interest or contact information. Assist in conducting outreach via door-to-door canvassing, tabling, and street team efforts. Support community-based initiatives, pop-up events, and public campaigns. Participant Support Help direct community members to appropriate services or make warm hand-offs to program staff. Support intake or sign-up processes during events by collecting basic information or helping complete forms. Answer basic questions about the organization’s mission and programs. Team Collaboration Participate in outreach planning meetings and strategy sessions. Maintain open communication with the outreach coordinator and team members regarding daily activities and community feedback. Help track outreach activities, including the number of contacts made, materials distributed, and outcomes. Administrative Duties Assist team with administrative duties to include answering phones, completing spreadsheets, lobby support, and inputting data into program systems. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Friendly, outgoing personality with strong interpersonal skills. Passion for working with the public and promoting social services or community resources. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Comfortable working outdoors and traveling within the community. Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends. Reliable transportation to get to and from community events Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in outreach, community organizing, peer education, or public engagement. Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus. Knowledge of the local community or target population served. Working Conditions Frequent local travel required; must be comfortable being on your feet and working in varying weather conditions. May involve lifting and carrying materials up to 25 lbs. Use of mobile devices or tablets for data collection may be required.
