Position Summary

The Psychotherapist works directly with the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide assessment and treatment of mental health concerns through individual, group, and family psychotherapy in accordance with established programming and individualized treatment plans for adolescents with co-occurring psychiatric and medical disorders.

This role collaborates closely with nursing, rehabilitation, medical, and behavioral health professionals within a specialized inpatient setting focused on pediatric behavioral health and rehabilitation services.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, monitors, and documents individualized mental health treatment goals and objectives as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Provides evidence-based individual, group, milieu, and family psychotherapy interventions in accordance with each patient’s treatment plan.
  • Coordinates and schedules weekly individual therapy sessions and family sessions unless otherwise indicated by the treatment team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Program Director to establish caseload expectations and group therapy coverage schedules.
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation for all patient encounters and interventions.
  • Provides psychoeducation, de-escalation support, and behavioral management strategies to interdisciplinary staff members.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and patient care conferences.
  • Conducts ongoing behavioral and psychosocial assessments to identify barriers impacting medical or rehabilitation progress.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and effectiveness of behavioral and clinical interventions.
  • Communicates treatment updates, behavioral concerns, patient progress, and recommendations to the Program Director and Program Medical Director.
  • Assists with discharge planning and transition coordination to the next appropriate level of care.
  • Maintains professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, staff, and external partners.
  • Remains current on evidence-based behavioral health practices, treatment modalities, and inpatient psychiatric care trends.
  • Participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives focused on treatment fidelity and patient outcomes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.

Experience

  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring behavioral intervention programs preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an inpatient hospital, rehabilitation, or behavioral health setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Texas licensure as an LPC, or LCSW required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • All licenses and certifications must remain active and in good standing throughout employment.
