Job Summary
Supports Solid Fuel-Fired Power Plant activities related to the chemistry laboratory, water treatment facilities and ensures environmental compliance relative to local, state and federal environmental regulations. Specifically, the employee is involved with sample collection, testing, monitoring and reporting functions to appropriate entities.Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Performs routine system check, calibrations, maintenance and troubleshooting on analytical monitoring equipment.
Ability to provide technical solutions to problems with analytical monitoring equipment, with little assistance.
Performs data reasonableness checks, generates daily reports and assists in developing and reviewing compliance reporting for regulatory submission.
Performs the collection and evaluation of various water samples for plant processes and permit requirements.
Manages the performance of all water processes
Demonstrates proficiency in wet chemistry analysis on plant process waste steams and monitors the collection of all waste streams, taking appropriate action when necessary to ensure compliance.
Inspect and monitor performance of and prepare reporting for plant equipment, including, but not limited to water treatment facilities, scrubbers, condensers and bowl mills.
Develops a basic understanding of the benefits and limitations of various methods of temperature, flow, pressure and level measurements.
Involved in after hour on-call rotation with minimal assistance from other technicians.
Maintains training and testing required for certifications and licenses (Method 9, wastewater/water operator, etc.).
Work on elevated chimney ring platforms to perform equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Responsible for operation, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and equipment used for environmental compliance monitoring, water production and boiler cycle chemistry monitoring
Assist with all other environmental and chemical duties as assigned.
**LEVEL OF POSITION WILL BE DETERMINED BY APPLICABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
One (1) year as Chem/Enviro Tech I or two (2) years related work experience or education highly preferred
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Proficiency in water chemistry operations and/or CEMS O&M and Regulatory Compliance requirements, preferred.
Computer software applications knowledge preferred (Maximo, PI, PHD, Stack Vision, Fleet Vision, Microsoft, etc.)
AC/DC electronics, and electrical troubleshooting, preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with others both internally and externally.
Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills.
Knowledge of environmental regulations
Demonstrated continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge.
