UW Medicine Primary Care has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Urgent Care Clinics.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full time
  • Will include weekend and evening hours
  • Urgent care clinics are open 363 days a year

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position provides enterprise-level administrative and operational leadership for UW Medicine’s urgent care clinics.  The Urgent Care Director is responsible for oversight of daily operations, financial performance, quality and safety compliance, access optimization, and strategic development of new and existing urgent and episodic care sites, that may consist of express care, stand along emergency rooms as well as additional urgent care sites.  The role partners closely with clinic managers, medical directors, operational leaders, and system stakeholders to ensure consistent, high-quality, financially sustainable, and patient-centered urgent care delivery, aligned with UW Medicine’s strategic priorities and standards of care.


POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Operational oversight of multiple high-volume, fast-paced clinical sites with extended hours, variable demand, and complex staffing models.

  • Managing growth and expansion initiatives while maintaining operational stability.

  • Balancing access, quality, safety, patient experience, workforce sustainability, and financial performance across geographically and operationally distinct sites.

  • Coordinating across clinical, nursing, finance, compliance, facilities, and IT partners to support system-wide alignment.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative leadership for all urgent care, express care, and stand-alone emergency department operations.

  • Partner with clinic managers to ensure consistent operational performance, staffing optimization, and service delivery.

  • Lead strategic development, expansion, and refinement of new and existing urgent care sites and express care locations.

  • Partner with senior leadership on long-term care delivery transformation and episodic care strategy.

  • Partner with finance to develop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgets.

  •  Analyze financial performance, productivity metrics, staffing costs, and variance reports.

  • Lead initiatives focused on improving timely access, throughput, and patient experience across all sites.

  • Ensure adherence to UW Medicine policies, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and safety protocols.

  • Partner with clinic managers and quality teams to monitor quality, safety, and risk metrics.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to clinic managers and operational leaders.

  • Represent urgent care operations in system-wide committees, workgroups, and initiatives.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters Degree in Health Administration or related field

  • Minimum of 5 years experience require

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • 5–7 years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience.  Demonstrated experience in urgent care, ambulatory care, emergency services, or high-acuity outpatient settings.  Experience with financial management, access optimization, and multi-site operations. Experience in and knowledge of the complexities of an urgent care setting

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$144,000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$192,000.00 annual
