
Nurse Aide Instructor (PRN)

Reports To: Health Education Coordinator
Job Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly), Part-Time, Not Benefit Eligible
Location: Multiple (Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, Grinnell)
Rate of Pay: $35.00/hour
Schedule: PRN (As Needed), Typically 2-3 days per week, 2-4 hours per day, while teaching
Summary: This PRN (as needed) position offers a flexible opportunity for experienced nurses to teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and short-term healthcare courses. With a low weekly time commitment and the ability to choose when to work, instructors can accept classes that fit their schedules. This is a great fit for nurses who want to share their skills in a meaningful way without the obligations of a full-time role.
Job Duties:
- Teach CNA and related courses in accordance with approved course outlines and DIA (Department of Inspections and Appeals) requirements.
- Provide CNA clinical instruction in local long-term care facilities.
- Deliver content using a variety of instructional methods and technologies (in-person, online, and hybrid).
- Develop and maintain course syllabi and materials.
- Maintain accurate student and course records to meet state and federal standards.
- Coordinate with the Health Education Coordinator to schedule classes based on instructor availability and program needs.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities as appropriate.
- Provide mentorship for new instructors when needed.
- Maintain a clean and professional instructional environment
Abilities:
- Strong clinical and instructional skills with a commitment to student success.
Flexible and self-motivated, able to manage a PRN schedule.
Excellent verbal and written communication. - Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Open to using new technologies and teaching strategies
Education and Experience: Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with active RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state (or ability to obtain). Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. At least 1 year of full-time employment in long-term care strongly preferred but not required. Teaching or training experience preferred.
Certifications and Licenses: Registered Nurse in Iowa or a compact state or the ability to obtain one. CPR and Dependent adult abuse certified.
