The Regulatory Specialist ensures sanitary registrations and regulatory compliance for commercialized products across the CARICAM region by compiling technical and legal documentation for submission (via country lawyers) to local authorities, tracking progress, and ensuring ongoing compliance.

This role is also a key point of contact for Commercial and Innovation teams, supporting Marketing, R&D, and FSQ with technical guidance on ingredients, formulas, labeling, and applicable legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile and manage technical and legal documentation dossiers per product and country, including additional information requested by authorities.
  • Coordinate and follow up on sanitary registrations for commercialized SKUs across CARICAM in collaboration with country lawyers.
  • Review and approve regulatory documentation required to enable import/export of new products in CARICAM.
  • Maintain accurate records and traceability of registrations in internal systems (e.g., SharePoint / workflow tools).
  • Conduct regulatory risk assessments, maintain risk matrices, and document mitigation actions.
  • Assess legal/regulatory impacts for the region and participate in advocacy forums and regulatory updates.
  • Execute formula-related regulatory approvals (new formulas, raw/packaging materials, formula or regulatory changes) in internal systems for Costa Rica.
  • Review and approve the regulatory aspects of labels and complementary stickers; support claims review processes.
  • Provide regulatory support to Innovation projects in Costa Rica (Pavas), acting as a strategic partner for business feasibility.
  • Support planning and management of the registrations budget for the region (AOP planning, cost review approvals, PO creation, invoice payments).

Financial: Registrations AOP, travel budget, external legal consultation budget

Non-financial: Regulatory CoE expertise, effective systems usage, cultural transformation, advocacy participation, risk management

Key Stakeholders

Internal: Hispanics Regulatory team/manager, R&D, Innovation, Commercial (South), Marketing, FSQ, Legal

External: Country lawyers; local authorities (via legal representatives)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Engineering or similar.
  • English: Intermediate level.
  • Knowledge (basic–intermediate): Food processing, food regulations, food labeling, food additives.
  • Competencies: Highly organized, able to synthesize information, strong communication and presentation skills, respectful, values-driven.
