Qualifications
The Crane/WHE Operator is responsible for the operation of a variety of cranes and heavy equipment and interprets load charts and plans all lifts.
Responsibilities
- Conducts daily safety inspections and safe operations of mobile cranes and other heavy equipment as required.
- Inspect the condition of the work site prior to setting up the crane.
- Uses cranes to hoist position and/or transport material such as machinery, equipment and other construction products.
- Must be aware of how much material can be lifted safely based upon weather conditions and the capacity of the crane.
- Inspects and maintains crane against any defect or malfunctions.
- Develops an effective plan for the layout, security, and safekeeping of materials and equipment during loading, delivering, and unloading.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles and ensures vehicles meet all US Government safety requirements for operation.
- Maintains a vehicle log in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Follows appropriate safety procedures when transporting equipment.
- Responsible for inspecting the condition of the work site prior to setting up the crane.
- Reports vehicle defects, malfunctions, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles immediately to the WHE supervisor or Transportation Operations Manager.
- Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site.
- Perform general housekeeping on work sites to ensure a safe and clean environment.
- Ability to obtain all required certificates within the first 180 days upon arrival at NSGB.

- Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must possess a valid home country driver’s license and be capable of obtaining a USG driver’s license
- Experience:
- Working with the following:
- Transportation operators
- Weight Handling Equipment (WHE) / Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
- Ordinance Handling Equipment (OHE)
- Civil Engineering Support Equipment (CESE) operators, riggers, signalman, load test director and mechanics.
- Skills:
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Detail oriented
- Must speck, write, and read English, as well as provide and receive directions in English.
- Material/Equipment:
- Computers
- Tablet
- Two-way radios
- Office equipment
- Working Conditions:
- Activities occur inside and outside
- Exposure to high humidity and temperatures
- Island environment
