Job Description
AMETEK Level Measurement Solutions is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to design and support electronic hardware for Magnetrol and Drexelbrook industrial level measurement products.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and documenting circuits for embedded, real-time microprocessor-based instruments. You will take designs from concept through validation, compliance, and production, working across analog, digital, RF, and power electronics in rugged industrial environments.
Working closely with firmware and mechanical teams, you will play a key role in advancing product performance, improving existing designs, and supporting the development of new technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and sustain electronic hardware for industrial level measurement products, including guided wave radar (TDR), non-contact radar, RF/admittance (capacitance), magnetostrictive, displacer, and point level sensing technologies
- Own schematic capture, component selection, and PCB layout (Altium Designer)
- Build mixed-signal circuits including analog front ends, microcontroller systems, and power supplies
- Implement and support industrial communication interfaces: 4–20 mA current loop, HART 7, Modbus, Profibus, RS-485, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, and Bluetooth
- Conduct circuit simulation and board-level validation (e.g., LTspice)
- Execute board-level bring-up, debugging, and electrical characterization in the lab
- Apply best practices for EMC, reliability, and hazardous area requirements
- Support compliance and certification (UL, CE, FCC, FM, ATEX/IECEx as applicable)
- Contribute to hardware solutions supporting Intrinsic Safety (IS) and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) applications
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams
- Support products through production and field issues
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 6–10 years of experience in electrical hardware design
- Proficiency with Altium Designer
- Strong background in analog and mixed-signal design
- Experience with microcontroller-based systems and power electronics
- Familiarity with industrial communication interfaces (4–20 mA current loop, HART 7, Modbus, Profibus, RS-485, Foundation Fieldbus, and Bluetooth)
- Hands-on lab experience (debug, rework, instrumentation)
- Working knowledge of EMC-aware design practices
If you are an experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity, we would love to hear from you. Join AMETEK LMS and contribute to cutting-edge product innovations in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Salary Range and Benefits:
Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. In addition, AMETEK provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee assistance program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
