Job Purpose & Objectives
The role is responsible for supporting the financial management and performance analysis of BBVA Asia Corporate & Investment Banking activities, including Global Markets, Lending and Trade Finance.
The Associate will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, profitability analysis, business performance monitoring, and regional management support. In addition, the position will contribute to the transformation and automation of Finance processes through the use of data analytics, digital tools, and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency, reporting quality, and decision-making capabilities.
The role requires close collaboration with regional business teams, Finance teams across Head Office and Asia, and other key stakeholders in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, analyze, and monitor key financial indicators and management reports for Asia CIB activities.
Perform detailed financial analysis on P&L, balance sheet movements, revenues, expenses, and cost allocations.
Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning processes.
Monitor business performance and customer profitability across products and geographies.
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting activities.
Support ad-hoc business analysis and strategic management presentations for senior management.
Support the Head of Finance Asia in the regional financial follow-up and business monitoring.
Coordinate with multiple Finance teams at Head Office and regional branches to ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting.
Maintain continuous interaction with Front Office, business units, operations, risk, and finance stakeholders across Asia.
Participate in regional and global finance initiatives and transformation projects.
Drive the mechanization, optimization, and automation of recurring Finance and reporting processes.
Develop and maintain automated reporting solutions and dashboards using Python, SQL, Apps Script, advanced Excel, VBA, or similar tools.
Identify opportunities to improve data quality, operational efficiency, and reporting accuracy through digitalization initiatives.
Leverage AI-based tools and automation technologies to streamline financial analysis, reporting workflows, reconciliations, and data processing.
Support the implementation of innovative analytics and AI solutions to enhance decision-making and business insights.
Collaborate with IT, Data, and Finance teams to improve data infrastructure and reporting architecture.
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, governance standards, and reporting requirements.
Support audit requests and regulatory reporting processes when required.
Contribute to continuous improvement of finance policies, procedures, and controls.
Job Specifications
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related disciplines.
1–3 years of experience in financial analysis, management reporting, budgeting, cost control, or business finance, ideally within the banking or financial services industry.
Experience in Corporate & Investment Banking or Global Markets environments is a plus.
Basic knowledge of financial derivatives and Global Markets products is required.
Exposure to finance transformation, automation, or data analytics projects is highly desirable.
Technical & Digital Skills
Strong knowledge of financial analysis and accounting principles.
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Programming or automation skills in Python, SQL, VBA, Apps Script, or equivalent tools are highly valued.
Familiarity with AI tools, generative AI applications, workflow automation, and digital finance solutions is highly desirable.
Ability to work with large datasets and improve reporting efficiency through automation.
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
