Job Purpose

This role aims to provide environmental technical support to the MFD. This role has a strong emphasis on environmental compliance and emergency response. Candidates should be recognised for expertise in the environmental function including but not limited to: emissions, disturbed lands remediation, Biodiversity, Ecological impacts and Environmental management system, as well as waste management and minimisation. The Environmental function supports company operations, and this person should have a customer-focused and change management mindset.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementing environmental policies and practices in Majnoon Oilfield development
  • Devising strategies to meet targets and encourage best practices.
  • Devising the best tools and systems to monitor performance and implement strategies
  • Ensuring compliance with Iraqi environmental legislation.
  • Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff, clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the contractors are fully complying with all environmental policies and regulations of the MFD.
  • Responsible for conducting environmental inspections, developing inspection reports, creating SMART actions and follow-up actions to closure, and Support Field Environmental survey work.
  • Support field environmental survey work.
  • Support for delivering the Soil and Ground Water & Noise Monitoring program.
  • Responsible for air quality monitoring survey.
  • Assessing, analysing, and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to internal staff and clients.
  • Responsible for the complete environmental data analyses and collecting the water and ODS inventories.
  • Support for completing all weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reports.
  • Analyze the Passive tubes, STPs reading and submit a comprehensives report.
  • Schedule and manage the Housekeeping campaigns in MFD.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives, including international legislation where applicable
  • Producing educational or information resources for internal staff, clients or the general public
  • Deliver on the annual World Environmental Day event in the field.

 Qualification & Training requirements

  • BSc in Engineering degree or MSc in Environment or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is preferred
  • Working knowledge of HSE-related activities and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Certified ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 or equivalent.

 Experience

  • Five years of relevant job experience within the oil & gas industry.
  • Knowledge of HSE rules and regulations of the oil industry.
  • Has an awareness of STP sampling and soil and groundwater-related matters.
  • knowledge in recognizing environmental issues and problems.
  • Knowledge in using the Noise handheld equipment.
  • Experience in data managing and reporting
  • Demonstrable experience in all functional aspects of Environmental Monitoring programs, including Environmental contract of Air quality monitoring, soil and groundwater monitoring, Noise Monitoring program, Environmental reports review, AAQMS (Ambient Air Quality System) Station Managing and maintaining.
  • Minimum of four years of responsible experience related to contaminated site assessment and remediation, environmental risk assessment, environmental field sampling, monitoring, instrumentation, laboratory analyses and data management

 Language Proficiency, Computer and Software Skills

  • MS Office: Excel – Intermediate, Word – Intermediate, PowerPoint – Intermediate.
  • English –intermediate (verbal & written).

 Skills

  • IT Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, SharePoint)
  • Presentation skills and strong reporting skills.
  • Communication skills, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement. A genuine interest in and understanding of environmental issues and relevant legislation.
  • High proficiency with Environmental Software, e.g. Env Man as part of Air Quality monitoring and Maintenance of Environmental Monitoring equipment.
