What You Can Expect

Incumbents in this position are part of the Metrology Calibration Technician Training Program. Trainee will train on performing calibrations and layout evaluations for new/existing gages and fixtures, issuing and receiving gages, and performing first-article product layout. Trainee will be required to rotate through different departments, campuses and/or shifts.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Receives individual training and mentorship on performing complex calibrations and layout evaluations for new/existing gages and fixtures using approved standards, techniques, and equipment in and outside of the Metrology lab.
  • Train and learn to perform first-article layout evaluations for new products, gages, fixtures, and tooling using approved standards, techniques, and equipment in the Metrology lab.
  • Use geometry, trigonometry, algebra and basic statistics to calculate and evaluate data.
  • Receives training on maintaining accurate record keeping of gage status in Gage Tracking software.
  • Train to special inspection priority jobs, by reviewing print and set-up procedures, obtaining specialized fixtures, inspecting items, and reporting evaluation results.
  • Enter calibration activities on a computerized asset management system (Calibration Manager), including equipment records, event and history.

  • Daily contact and/or communication with quality technicians, tool and die makers, gage design engineers, quality engineers, production supervisors or managers, manufacturing engineers, and buyers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of measurement equipment used within Metrology (vision systems, manual height gages, general inspection tools, etc.).

Your Background

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. 

Preferred Experience: 

  • General Understanding of Basic Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). 
  • General Understanding of Basic Blueprint reading.
  • Two years experience in a production environment.
  • Experience with calibration or metrology functions.
  • Ability to learn basic navigation of a three dimensional CAD system (Unigraphics preferred). 
  • Understanding of pertinent ANSI/ISO standards and calibration methods/techniques.
  • Competent in mathematics (geometry, trigonometry, algebra) and basic statistics.
  • Basic understanding and use of Outlook, Word, Excel.

Travel Expectations

Travel between Warsaw manufacturing facilities may be required
