We are currently seeking an Associate Engineer – Drainage with extensive experience in transport or infrastructure projects to join our Melbourne team. This is a permanent opportunity playing a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure projects across VIC and nationally.

 

With a strong pipeline of work, we are looking for an experienced drainage professional to lead the delivery of drainage design on complex projects, with oversight of flood-related inputs where required. You will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high-quality, coordinated and efficient project outcomes.

 

With 10+ years’ experience, this role offers the opportunity to take on a senior leadership position within the team. You will lead project workstreams, provide guidance to engineers, and contribute to strengthening client relationships and project delivery capability across the business.

 

You will have developed your experience within an engineering consultancy (or similar environment) and demonstrate strong technical capability, leadership, and the ability to influence project outcomes in a collaborative and client-focused manner. The primary focus of this role is drainage design leadership, with flooding components forming a smaller part of the broader scope.

 

About You

Suitable applicants will have:

  • Degree qualified – Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering or similar)
  • 10+ years of Australian experience in drainage design and stormwater management
  • Extensive experience delivering infrastructure projects (roads, highways, rail or urban development)
  • Strong working knowledge of Austroads Part 5, 5A & 5B and Australian Rainfall and Runoff (2019)
  • Advanced proficiency in 12d Dynamic Drainage Analysis and related tools
  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery and manage project work packages
  • Experience mentoring, developing and guiding engineers
  • Strong client engagement and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to contribute to project planning, delivery strategy and commercial outcomes
  • A collaborative leadership style with a focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement
  • RPEV (Registered Professional Engineer of Victoria), or ability to obtain
  • Exposure to flood modelling tools (e.g. TUFLOW) is beneficial but not essential
