About the Role

IRT is looking for an experienced and practical Work Health and Safety Advisor to join our team and help strengthen safety performance across our operations.  Reporting to the Group Head of Work, Health & Safety, you will partner with leaders and frontline teams to investigate incidents, improve risk controls, support compliance, and embed a positive safety culture.


This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with people, influencing outcomes, and turning safety insights into practical action.

 

It is a hybrid position and we are open to location but you must be willing to travel to the Illawarra and South Coast regions.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead and support incident and near miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify hazards, assess risks and implement practical controls
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments across business operations
  • Provide timely, pragmatic WHS advice to leaders, employees and contractors
  • Support reporting, governance and continuous improvement activities across the WHS management system
  • Help build a positive, consultative safety culture through coaching, engagement and education

To Be Successful You Will Have

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in a WHS advisory role, ideally in a multi-site operational environment
  • Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capability, with ICAM or similar highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles and the hierarchy of controls
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Current Class C Driver Licence and willingness to travel to operational sites as required
