Position Summary
The Radiologic/CT Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic imaging examinations, including radiography and computed tomography (CT), to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. This role is responsible for ensuring patient safety, maintaining imaging equipment, and providing exceptional care with professionalism and empathy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic radiographic and CT procedures using appropriate protocols to obtain clear, accurate images as ordered by the physician.
- Position patients correctly to ensure optimal imaging results while maintaining their safety, comfort, and dignity.
- Administer contrast media as requested by the provider, following established hospital protocols and ensuring patient safety throughout the process.
- Start and maintain IV lines as necessary for imaging procedures requiring contrast.
- Apply radiation protection techniques according to BCH safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Review and evaluate images for quality, making adjustments as necessary to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documentation, and image storage in compliance with hospital policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Assist radiologists and physicians during imaging procedures as needed.
- Monitor and maintain imaging equipment, reporting any issues or malfunctions promptly.
- Follow infection control, safety, and quality assurance protocols at all times.
- Participate in continuing education and competency evaluations to ensure compliance with licensing and certification standards.
Requirements
- Certification: ARRT credentialed in Radiography and Computed Tomography (required)
- Licensure: Current Virginia State Radiologic Technologist license (preferred)
- CPR/BLS Certification: Required (may be obtained upon hire)
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year in medical imaging (preferred)
- Knowledge: Radiation safety principles, anatomy and physiology, and imaging best practices
Physical & Work Environment
This role involves frequent standing, walking, and moving patients and equipment. The technologist must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and wear required personal protective equipment. Work is primarily indoors with exposure to radiation and medical imaging equipment.
SCHEDULE:
- 12 hour shifts, weekdays 7p-7a
