The Manager of Training and Learning Solutions will define and develop learning strategies for ASSA ABLOY EMS products, applying creativity and instructional design principles to produce programs that meet the needs of diverse, professional users across a variety of modalities and media. 

This individual will grow the organization’s ability to capture and share knowledge, deploying F2F and digital learning to optimize customer engagement. The role requires the ability to imagine innovative solutions, engage subject matter experts and learners, manage in-field trainers, and deliver engaging tools that increase our brands’ impact in the marketplace. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

Department Strategy 

  • Assess organizational needs and create annual plans for both online/interactive delivery and traditional instructor-led training, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals. 
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and subject matter experts (including Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, Technical Support, IT, and external parties) to identify opportunities and create training content that addresses customer needs. 
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from scoping and budgeting through development, delivery, and evaluation. 

Internal Knowledge-Sharing 

  • Champion creative approaches to raise awareness of training programs and tools. 
  • Help build a shared mind-set and culture that sees knowledge as an asset, creating value as EMS know-how and information is spread to Sales and Training partners.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises the in-field trainers.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. 

Education and/or Experience:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, education, training and development, organizational development or related field, or equivalent work experience.  

Experience 

  • Five or more years of business experience, ideally in Instructional Design, Training, or E-Learning 
  • Four or more years of progressive experience leading cross-functional teams, operating and influencing effectively across the organization 
  • Familiarity with information-intensive industries or digitally advanced enterprises is preferable 
  • Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for development of content, technologies, and training personnel.  

Personnel Management 

  • Manage and grow in-field trainers to maximize their ability to develop and deliver training, including both subject matter expertise and teaching methods/skills. 
  • Optimize processes for both efficiency and impact, setting KPIs to measure effectiveness. 

 

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with e-learning, learning management systems, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of all, some, or equivalents: Adobe CC, Captivate, Articulate, Adapt, Audacity, PIM/DAM platforms, as well as web and mobile UI/UX is desired.  

Language Ability

  • For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English.
