Job Description
The Clinical Laboratory at Zuckerberg San Francisco General, Blood Bank/Transfusion Service performs pre-transfusion compatibility testing in preparation for selecting, cross matching and issuing blood and blood components for patients. This position performs all routine and special blood banking tests and procedures. Performs all duties in a manner that denotes the team concept and reflects the UCSF and ZSFG mission, vision and values.

40 | Y | Performs all stat and routine pre-transfusion compatibility testing. |
20 | Y | Selects and issues blood and blood components. |
10 | Y | Performs antibody identification, problem-solving, and serological follow-up on reported transfusion reactions. |
20 | Y | Responsible for computer data entry of test requests and test results. |
5 | Y | Perform quality control procedures for reagents and equipment. |
5 | Y | Performs additional special study projects as assigned. Assists in training Laboratory Medicine Residents, CLS students, and new employees. |

Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate scientific field
- Possession of a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License issued by the State Department of Health
- Able to work independently, under pressure; recognize and resolve problems while maintaining a high level of organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a high-volume computerized laboratory
- Effective verbal and written communication skills relative to clinical results
Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
